Ready to Work for Dubuque County
Mom. Small Business Owner. Economic Developer. Community Builder.
Kristin loves Dubuque County and wants to bring her passion for small business, economic development and community building to serve you as Dubuque County Supervisor.
After growing up in Sageville and Southern Dubuque County until 2000, Kristin and her husband Kevin, a native of Asbury, moved back to Dubuque in 2009 and welcomed their twins shortly after. From 2009 to 2021, Kristin worked for Northeast Iowa Community College and Greater Dubuque Development Corporation focusing on education and training programs and comprehensive community workforce recruitment and retention.
Since 2021, Kristin took over the management of her parents’ wholesale and retail outdoor furniture company Painted Sky Designs, which she now operates with her brother. Kristin serves on the board of Dubuque Initiatives, Dubuque Museum of Art, and the Dubuque Senior Educational Foundation.
Kristin’s Priorities for Dubuque County
PEOPLE
I believe county government has a direct and meaningful impact on people’s daily lives—and when it focuses on safety, health, economic development, and community building, that impact is tangible and long-lasting.
PARTNERSHIPS
I know that Dubuque County works best when the public and private sectors collaborate to achieve a shared vision and when community leaders choose partnership over competition. Cooperative problem solving allows the county to unlock greater efficiencies, maximize resources, and create benefits for all.
PLANNING
I am confident the county can manage long-term fiscal responsibility while remaining agile enough to respond to emerging or unexpected needs. We shouldn't have to choose between stability and flexibility—we can achieve both.
PLACES
Through strategic efficiencies, we have the opportunity to leverage the full range of Dubuque county’s outdoor recreation, natural beauty, vibrant communities, and cultural amenities as a competitive advantage. By investing in and promoting these assets, we can elevate quality of life while also strengthening workforce recruitment and retention.
